Flight Parents

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW TO BE A FLIGHT PARENT

Be a flight parent

First of all, you must have your plane ticket already purchased, we only pay for the dog’s flights, not for the people's.

The airlines we can currently work with, either by agreement or because the cost of the dog’s flight is very low, are:

  • Air Canada: They allow traveling two or three dogs documented in the baggage area at no cost, as long as the application is sent 3 weeks in advance.

  • Aeromexico: Nos permite que viajen hasta 10 perritos por pasajero si existe lugar disponible para ellos.

You can send the information we need through the "Flight Parents" form.
  • Step by step

Once you are willing to help move some puppies this is what you need to know:

    TRIP TO THE AIRPORT

A The Dog-Go Project volunteer will take the dogs to Mexico City airport 3 hours before your flight, so they can check-in them.

    TIME TO LAND

When you land, we ask you to send a text message to the person who will receive the dogs, so that they can be aware of your landing.

    ARRIVAL OF THE DOGS

Puppies will arrive in an area called "large luggage". That is where we need your help to pick them up and put them in a car along with your bags. If you need help, in some airports there are luggage cars, you can ask one porter and the person who picks them up will pay (In case you don’t carry cash, please save us the car receipt and we or the Canadian association will refund you).

    CUSTOMS

The next step is to go through customs with the puppies. All these dogs fly like rescued dogs and that's how they come to Canada. The requirements for a rescued dog to enter are:
    • 1. Form B3 (previously filled by us).
    • 2. Letter from the Canadian association where you are authorized to be a "flight parent" of the puppies signed by someone from the Canadian Association.
    • 3. Vaccination record.
    • 4. Certificate issued by a veterinarian certifying that the dogs can travel.

This is the page of the Canadian government where all the requirements can be rectified:

    DOCUMENTATION

Once you are in Customs, the officer will ask you for the documentation indicated above. You will give it to them, they will review it, send a fax to the external Custom office, where one person from the Canadian Association will pay the duties in order to release the documents. That’s all.

    CANADIAN ASSOCIATION

Once you leave Customs, a volunteer of the Canadian association will be waiting for the dogs. We ask you to never take the dogs out from the kennels for any reason. At all times you will have telephone support from The Dog-Go Project and from the Canadian association.

ALL THE EXPENSES ARE COVERED BY US.

THIS IS COMPLETELY FREE OF COST FOR THE FLIGHT PARENT.

Once you have read this and are willing to change the life of one or several doggies, we need you to fill out this form:
